Member
of the public reported to crew member that they
had received a phone call from a friend who
was in a 14ft dory in Marlfield Bay with engine
difficulties. Lifeboat crew alerted but prior
to launch information was received that the
casualty had restarted their outboard engine.
Crew stood down. |

Coastguard requested immediate launch to assist
a 4-metre punt that was reported to be sinking
off Killyleagh. Lifeboat located the punt close
to Green Island and took one person on board
who was hypothermic. Lifeboat took the casualty
to Strangford village where the casualty was
transferred to hospital via an awaiting ambulance.

call received by Belfast Coastguard from the
fishing vessel 'Gemini' that it was sinking.
Lifeboat launched & crew located the fishing
vessel partially afloat and with two crew members
aboard the vessel's life-raft. Both crewmen
were taken aboard the lifeboat. Shortly afterwards,
the fishing vessel rolled over and sank. Lifeboat
crew then recovered and disabled the fishing
vessel's EPIRB and transported both fishermen
to safety ashore at Portavogie. |

Coastguard requested immediate launch to rescue
a person reported to have fallen overboard from
a yacht moored off Strangford village. Lifeboat
crew located the male casualty who on arrival
was being held fast by a rope in the strong
current by another crewmember. Lifeboat crew
recovered the casualty and transferred him to
safety ashore at the ferry quay in Strangford.

Coastguard requested immediate launch to assist
a junior male who had sustained a knee injury
whilst participating in a family fun day on
Salt Island, Strangford Lough. Lifeboat tasked
to Quoile Yacht Club to transport a doctor &
paramedics to Salt Island. After on-scene medical
treatment the casualty was transferred to hospital
by police helicopter. |

Coastguard requested launch to assist a 6.5m
boat in the Strangford Narrows that had broken
down due to an overheating engine. Lifeboat
located casualty vessel and towed it back to
safety in Portaferry Marina. |

Coastguard requested launch after receiving
a 'Pan Pan' call from a yacht that had ran aground
on rocks at Ballydorn, Strangford Lough. Prior
to arrival of the lifeboat another vessel in
the vicinity of the casualty had given assistance
to the yacht. Casualty vessel was able to proceed
on passage without further assistance and lifeboat
returned to station |

Coastguard requested an immediate launch following
a 999 call reporting a fishing boat being driven
onto rocks at the entrance to Ardglass harbour.
No radio communication could be established
with any vessels in the vicinity of the reported
incident. Lifeboat launched to assist. On arrival
on scene the lifeboat crew were advised that
another fishing vessel had given assistance
earlier by towing the casualty vessel off the
rocks and that both boats were safely in Ardglass
harbour. Lifeboat returned to station. |

Coastguard reported a yacht close to the North
Rocks off Cloughey with engine failure. One
person on board who was concerned sailing the
yacht single-handed without engine power when
entering port and was asking for assistance.
Small crabbing boat and yacht in the area stood
by the casualty vessel until the arrival of
the lifeboat. Lifeboat took casualty vessel
under tow to safety in Portaferry. |

Coastguard requested launch to assist a yacht
with engine problems approx three miles North
of Ardglass. On arrival with the casualty vessel
a crew member was put on board the yacht to
assist. Lifeboat escorted the casualty to Ardglass
and prior to entering the port took the vessel
under tow. Lifeboat then returned to station.
Helm reported that Station's new Atlantic 85
(Blue Peter V) had handled well in rough waters.

Coastguard requested launch to assist a 5m sportsboat
adrift with engine problems in Strangford Narrows.
Lifeboat arrived on scene with casualty vessel.
Engine of casualty vessel was restarted and
vessel was able to continue on its passage.

Coastguard requested launch after receiving
report of a capsized Laser dinghy close to Island
Taggart. Lifeboat launched but recalled after
confirmed reports that a local Sailing club
rescue boat that was in the area attending a
regatta had gave assistance. Lifeboat returned
to station. |

While
crew was making the Lifeboat ready after the
previous service cries for help were heard.
Three crew members went to investigate and discovered
that a young boy had fallen into the water opposite
the Lifeboat station and a teenager had jumped
into the water to save him. Two crew members
entered the water to assist whilst another used
the 'throw line' of the lifeboat to assist those
now in the water. The crew members ashore were
able to pull the casualty & crew towards the
quay. Both boys were recovered safely and were
subsequently escorted home by their parents.

Coastguard requested a launch to assist in the
search for a young woman after concerns re her
potential suicide. Lifeboat arrived at Sketrick
Island and conducted a search of the islands
and boats moored in the area. Coastguard team
located the casualty on the shoreline close
to where she lived. Lifeboat stood down & returned
to station. |

Lifeboat
on exercise and came across a kite surfer who
had become overpowered by the difficult weather
conditions and became separated from his surfing
equipment. Lifeboat went alongside the kite
surfer who by this time was a few meters from
the shore and confirmed that he was safe & uninjured.
Lifeboat crew then recovered the casualty's
board located 500m off shore and the kite a
further 500m downwind. Lifeboat returned to
station. |

Coastguard advised that a member of the public
had reported a sailboarder in trouble off Newtownards
Sailing Club. Lifeboat launched and on arrival
the sailboarder was found to be safely ashore
on Pig Island. Lifeboat crew took casualty and
his equipment on board the Lifeboat and transported
him to safety at the sailing club. Lifeboat
returned to station. |

Coastguard received a 999 call reporting a small
boat with 2 persons on board in difficulty in
Ballyhornan Bay. Lifeboat launched and located
the casualty vessel with 1 diver aboard on the
beach after vessel had dragged its anchor Second
diver located when he returned to the surface
after a dive. Lifeboat crew entered the water
and took a line ashore onto the RhIB. With the
second diver safely on board the Lifeboat the
Rhib with the first diver was towed into deep
water and to safety on a beach where both divers
had launched earlier. Lifeboat returned to station.

Coastguard requested launch to assist a yacht
off Ardglass with engine failure with no wind
in the area and unable to sail to a safe anchorage/harbour.
Lifeboat located yacht 6 miles east of Ardglass
and towed it back to safety in Portaferry marina.
Lifeboat returned to station. |

While
Lifeboat was on exercise in the Strangford Narrows
they were informed of a small yacht in difficulties
close to the Walter Rocks. When Lifeboat arrived
along side the yacht, the skipper confirmed
that he had lost engine power and requested
assistance. Lifeboat took the vessel under tow
to safety at Portaferry marina. Lifeboat returned
to station. |

Coastguard requested an immediate launch to
assist 3 young females in a small punt off Cloughey
who were unable to row back to the shore because
of strong offshore winds. Lifeboat crew located
the casualty vessel off Silver Bay Caravan Pk
and took the 3 casualties on board. Lifeboat
secured punt and landed the casualties to safety
on Cloughey beach off the old 'Cloughey Lifeboat'
Station. Lifeboat returned to station. |

Coastguard received a call on VHF from a motorboat
at the southern end of Ringhaddy Sound with
a fouled propeller that was drifting. Lifeboat
launched and located the casualty vessel South
of Ringhaddy Sound. Lifeboat crewman entered
the water & used a knife to cut away the entangled
rope. After checking for any other damage the
skipper of the vessel restarted his engine and
was able to continue on passage. Lifeboat returned
to station |

a 999 call reporting a male possibly overboard
from a punt in Ballyhalbert Bay. Shortly after
launch casualty was sighted safe ashore and
the lifeboat was recalled to station. |

Coastguard requested launch to investigate a
report of a small punt drifting in Ballyhalbert
Bay. HM Coastguard coastal response unit was
on scene ashore and directed lifeboat into search
area where the lifeboat crew located a 2.5m
boat that was adrift. There were no signs of
recent occupancy and the punt was taken to Portavogie
harbour from where the lifeboat returned to
Station. |

a call from a National Trust warden advising
concern over a kayaker who had not confirmed
his safe arrival on Salt Island where he was
to spend the night. Lifeboat arrived in the
area and crew located the kayaker who was found
to be safe and well on the island. Lifeboat
returned to station |
