Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following the
spoken word 'MAYDAY' heard on Ch16.
Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 199 also
tasked.
Following 3 hours of search nothing was found
and Portaferry Lifeboat stood down and returned
to station.

Portaferry launched on service at the request
of Belfast CGOC following the report of a
person stuck in mud whilst attempting to drag
a small punt ashore at Cadew Bay, south of
Whiterock.
On arrival on-scene of the lifeboat crew
they had difficulty reaching the casualty
due to the low water tide conditions. Portaferry
Coastguard Mud Rescue Team with Bangor CRT
had also been tasked and assisted in bringing
the casualty to safety ashore.
Portaferry Lifeboat stood down and returned
to station

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following the
report of a 30ft yacht running aground at
the approaches to Portaferry Marina. 3 persons
on board.
On arrival on-scene the lifeboat crew established
a tow line and brought the casualty vessel
and its occupants to safety ashore in Portaferry
Marina.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station.

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following a request
for assistance by a male kayker in difficulty
whilst on passage to Northern Ireland from
the Isle of Man. The kayaker had become fatigued
and could not see land.
Peel RNLI all weather lifeboat also launched
on service. Irish Coast Guard search &
rescue helicopter Rescue 116 from Dublin tasked.
Following a search the kayaker was located
approximately 14NM SE of the Strangford Bar
and taken aboard the lifeboat. The casualty
was subsequently transferred to the Peel Lifeboat
after displaying signs of hypothermia.
Peel and Portaferry lifeboats proceeded to
Portaferry Marina where the casualty was landed
to safety ashore with Portaferry Coastguard
Rescue Team in attendance.
Peel and Portaferry lifeboats returned to
their stations.
Note: The RNLI Chief Executive, Mark Dowie,
was visiting the lifeboat station when the
crew pagers were activated and the lifeboat
subsequently launched on this service.

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC to assist a female
sea swimmer reported to be in difficulty close
to Killough pier.
On arrival of the lifeboat a local RHIB had
given assistance and brought the casualty
ashore into the care of the emergency services.
Whilst proceeding back to the lifeboat station
for the lifeboat crew to carry out their weekly
exercise they were alerted by Belfast CGOC
who had received a report from kayakers that
2 paddle boarders were drifting out to sea
off Kilard Point.
Portaferry Lifeboat tasked to the area. Both
paddle boarders located by the lifeboat crew
and brought ashore to safety at Strangford
Pier.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station.

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following the
report of a kayak drifting out to sea off
Slanes Bay, Cloughey. The kayak had been abandoned
by 2 children who were safe ashore after being
out of their depth.
Kayak located by the lifeboat crew at 20:05
and brought ashore at Cloughey beach.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station.

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following reports
by members of the public that a teenager was
on an inflatable unicorn and was drifting
out to sea off Kilard Point.
Casualty located by the lifeboat crew off
Angus Rock and taken on board the lifeboat.
Casualty subsequently landed to safety ashore
at Kilclief Beach where the Portaferry Coastguard
Rescue Team was in attendance.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station

Portaferry Lifeboat requested to launch by
Belfast CGOC following a call recieved for
assistance from a 16m fishing vessel that
had gone aground off St John's Point. Four
persons on board. Newcastle all-weather
and inshore lifeboats also launched on service.
On arrival of the Portaferry Lifeboat with
the casualty vessel the 4 male adults were
taken on board the lifeboat. Checks for polution
also made. Newcastle Lifeboat arrived on scene
to assist.

where the 4 casualties were landed to safety
ashore with Newcastle Coastguard Rescue Team
in attendance to assist.
Portaferry and Newcastle lifeboats returned
to their stations.

Portaferry Lifeboat 'Blue
Peter V' launched on service following
a report to Belfast CGOC of a person in the
water after shouts were heard by a woman located
at Kilclief Gaelic Park.
On arrival of the lifeboat off the Strangford
Lough Bar Buoy the crew found an adult male
in the water who was clinging onto the side
of a 15ft cabin cruiser. After taking
the casualty on board the lifeboat the crew
checked him over for any injuries. The lifeboat
then proceeded to Strangford Harbour where
the casualty was landed to safety ashore with
the Portaferry Coastguard Rescue Team in attendance
to assist.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to the lifeboat
station to take a water salvage pump and an
additional crew member on board. The lifeboat
then proceeded to the location of the casualty
vessel and after ensuring that it was not
taking on water and checking for any enviromental
hazards it was taken under tow by the lifeboat
to Strangford Harbour.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station.

Portaferry Lifeboat launched on service at
the request of Belfast CGOC following a request
for assistance by two persons in an inflatable
kayak in the vicinity of Killard Point, Strangford
Narrows.
Following a search off the Kilclief shoreline
an update by Belfast CGOC redirected the lifeboat
crew to search an area 1NM East of St Patrick's
Rock.
Whilst completing the search in F8 to F10
SW winds the lifeboat crew spotted the kayak
and its 2 occupants 50 yards off the Strangford
Bar Fairway Buoy.
Both kayakers were taken on board the lifeboat
and the kayak abandoned due the adverse weather
conditions.
Portaferry Lifeboat proceeded to Strangford
Harbour where 2 persons were landed to safety
ashore and where HM Coastguard and NI Ambulance
personnel were in attendance.
Portaferry Lifeboat returned to station.
